| Original soundtrack for cornerstone action movie « Assault on Precinct 13 » by John Carpenter. Shot in 1976 « Assault..» is a paranoid movie about a gang of thugs attacking an isolated police precinct in Los Angeles.
Carpenter’s music is renowned for its early synthetic productions and hypnotic influence on the emerging 80’s and 90’s dance scene.
Surely you already know Assault’s main theme as the melody for Bomb the Bass’ legendary hit “Megablast” (also used in the classic 2-D shoot-em-up Xenon 2). Rippers off also include Afrikaa Bambataa, The Dead Prez, Terranova, Legowelt, I-F, Awesome Three, The Exploited, Hypnolove.
Record Makers is the very first label to have released this soundtrack on CD and LP, nearly 30 years after its recording.
John Carpenter never thought much of releasing it before unlike « Escape from New York » and almost all his other movies’ soundtracks. From now on, any Carpenter fan in the world can complete its collection with THE cornerstone of both Mr Carpenter’s acclaimed musical works and electronic music in general.
This record contains original film set footage, exclusive interview of John Carpenter on the movie and its music, exclusive essay on the music and the film by French expert on cinema music Nicolas Saada (Les Cahiers du Cinéma, Radio Nova) and original executive producer Joe Kaufman’s 2003 note on the 1976 making of « Assault on Precinct 13 » with John Carpenter.
