Lauritz Kaasa

Debut single "To Tell You Why" available
Straight from Norway, Record Makers discovered Lauritz Kaasa in a secret cave near Paris's Hôtel de Ville, smashing his drums and settling into his own pocket like a true Motown session player. A few weeks later, he had laid down his Lou Reed-esque voice for the first time, emerging from a lush backdrop of live instrumentation in the tradition of 1960's Phil Spector's Wall of sound. A simple approach to recording topped off with dense rhythm sections and songwriting that draws on storytelling traditions for a homegrown sound. Lauritz Kaasa's debut EP, expected later this Spring, echoes the grooves of Talking Heads and the quiet, experimental spirit of Arthur Russell, featuring contributions from Baba Stiltz (Okay Kaya, Sad Boys) and nit (Sébastien Tellier, Cola Boyy).
